Neopia Quest Gamefound Campaign Closing Soon

The official Gamefound crowdfunding campaign for the Neopia Quest board game by Ghostfire Gaming will be closing in one week on Saturday, April 18th at 6:00 PM NST.

Per Ghostfire,

Neopia Quest is a highly replayable tabletop journey for 1-4 players, designed to capture the core exploration, collecting, and charm of the classic online world. Players will choose their favorite Neopet and loyal Petpet companion to travel across iconic Neopian lands as they take on a host of challenges.

The Gamefound campaign launched last month. As of writing, the game has met its fundraising goals, and exceeded it. Functional protoypes of the game have already been spotted in the wild and playtested by fans at PAX East and Neopets fan meetups. The game is currently planned to begin shipping in December 2026.

Not a fan of board games? The campaign has several exclusive add-on items that can be backed independently (meaning, you don't actually have to add them on to a tiered pledge) such as:

  • A Neopia jigsaw puzzle
  • A set of four enamel pins
  • Posters
  • Neoprene player mats
  • Sticker sheets

All tiered pledges receive at least 1 Rare Item Code redeemable for your Neopets.com account, with the top tier receiving 9 different codes. All prizes are new, exclusive items.

At time of posting, the following stretch goals are already unlocked, with several more left to go:

  • The addition of Xweetok and Weewoo as playable characters
  • The addition of Lupe and Meowclops as playable characters
  • A free poster of Neopia for all tiered backers

After getting burned on Kickstarter I think I'm good. But good luck to every one else.

@lunawolfin351 if it helps, this one already has a fully playable prototype that has been tested by fans at local meetups, PAX East, etc. they didn't open the crowdsourcing until farrr later in the project and they're using it more to fund mass production vs get an idea made into a physical concept. you can even download the rule books/instructions already! i would personally vote it as extremely low risk based on how far they already are in the process

I've been burned too many times by Kickstarter campaigns, even some pretty persuasive and apprently low-risk ones. Never again.

From now on I'll wait for these kinds of things to become directly purchasable in stores or online.
by neolodgeism on April 11, 2026 2:04 PM NST
@lunawolfin - If it also helps, I've backed over 90 board game related Kickstarter projects and I've never been burnt, I've managed to suss out the bad ones. I don't see this one as even medium risk. Ghostfire who are making it look legit, it has actual playable prototypes, and I'm extremely confident it'll deliver.
by dynohawk on April 11, 2026 2:54 PM NST
@dyno an excellent point - Ghostfire is a pre-existing gaming company with lots of experience making games just like this, it's not new territory for them or their staff
by noileh on April 11, 2026 2:58 PM NST JN Staff
It’s definitely less overly ambitious than a TTRPG.
by neolikepets on April 11, 2026 4:52 PM NST
Bought the deluxe and am so excited for my King Skarl expansion!🩵That and the fact that this has an actual prototype were the deciding factors for me. Don't let Geekify sour you on a completely different company. These guys actually have experience and know what they're doing.

and not that anyone was waiting or counting we just hit the mark to unlock noilssssssssssssssssssssss

I'm just so glad this looks much more polished and ready to go than the tabletop campaign - as well as understanding the property and it's quirks and tone. I'm not interested in backing but I hope that everyone who does enjoys the final product!
by verdego on April 11, 2026 6:31 PM NST
As an adult board-gamer, I'm tempted because the game actually looks decently fun. However, as a Canadian, I cry in CAD. I'll wait for it to be purchasable and then request it as an Xmas gift or something

Ahh, finally a proper JellyNeo news post about the Neopia Quest Gamefound campaign! Everything to spread the awareness, so they can at least reach some of the the stretch goals! ^^

I understand why some of you are skeptical about this, and that is totally fair. TNT can just pull another 180 if GhostFire Games does something they don't like (or breaches contract of course), leaving fans with nothing. But the fact that there are playable prototypes of this game already does make it seem more solid than the Geekify TTRPG campaign.

(Ooh, I see the Gamefound campaign reached 600+ backers! This post must have had something to do with that! Good news for Eyrie and Noil lovers everywhere )
by apophis324 on April 11, 2026 11:48 PM NST
Also you can back and just get pins or a poster. Just sayin (and every little bit helps.)
by guardianrooko on April 12, 2026 6:20 AM NST
@apophis324 TNT can't just pull a 180 over something they don't like - that's why approvals processes with the licensing agency are mandatory. Geekify didn't just do something they didn't like - they massively breached their contract by publishing a completely unreviewed playtest document and causing mass amounts of negative PR on both them and their work, and Neopets. Geekify should have never been given the TTRPG project to begin with, but I think how it turned out surprised and disappointed TNT just as much as it did the backers.

@guardianrooko i think that part is so cool tbh. like when was the last time we got a PUZZLE? (i'm a puzzle fiend)

I want to be clear that I don't think these guys look shady at all. I've just promised myself to not get pulled into kickstarter campaigns anymore. I hope (and expect) this project will be a success, and that everyone who participates is happy with the game.

@samaanthag Yeah, it's so frustrating when shipping is often as expensive as - and sometimes even more expensive than - the product itself!
by neolodgeism on April 12, 2026 11:08 AM NST
More garbage? Ugh
by justiquen on April 12, 2026 11:17 AM NST
Honestly, this looks amazing and far more promising than the tabletop game. I hope it is a huge success.
by thesign2 on April 12, 2026 3:16 PM NST
I checked it out and gamefound also has a much more generous refund policy than kickstarter. Until fulfillment you can get at least a 75% refund minus fees.
by kalee11 on April 12, 2026 6:56 PM NST
I looooove the puzzle (pins too!), but I can't justify the cost of that PLUS shipping. If I'm even reading shipping right, not sure how the tier things work. But looks like minimum $15 + the $20 for the puzzle, so.

I hope they make more puzzles in the future, it's a nice change!
by goldennightfox on April 12, 2026 10:46 PM NST
@golden the shipping *might* be different if you were just say, getting the pins haha. you could always reach out - they seem pretty responsive in the comment section!
by noileh on April 13, 2026 8:45 AM NST JN Staff
Don't love the fact that a crowdfunding campaign has rare item codes attached, regardless of how much we can trust the company making this new game...
by bacon on April 13, 2026 12:34 PM NST
Im good. After being burnt big time on backing the TTRPG, I've been shown how much they really "care" for their fans who back these projects.
by therubyfox23 on April 13, 2026 4:09 PM NST
Ooh, you've been mentioned in the latest update on the Neopia Quest campaign~!
