Neopets × MLBPA Mega Figure

Neopets has announced a brand new collaboration - with the Major League Baseball Player's Association, aka the MLBPA. This collab has been announced as being in celebration of both the 20th Anniversary of the Altador Cup, and March's International Baseball Season.

It features a 12" collectible Kacheek figure with magnetic customization, and comes with two themed outfit sets and an adoption certificate. The figure will run $129.95 USD and is limited to 3,000 units in total.

The outfits include a baseball-themed set and a Neopets-themed set. The pinstripe jersey in the baseball set has printed signatures from 8 current MLB stars: Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Mookie Betts, Juan Soto, Mike Trout, Ronald Acuña Jr., Freddie Freeman, and Fernando Tatis Jr. The Neopets-themed set includes several Altador Cup references.

Each figure will include a rare item code for an exclusive MLBPA x Neopets Goodie bag in-game. Per TNT, this bag will contain a unique stamp, wearables, and a non-consumable item that awards an avatar when interacting with it. (In other words, the avatar item can be lended to all of your Neofriends.)

they realized it was worth nothing without collectibles attached to it.... yet another stamp only a few hundred people will ever see, and an unfillable album page for the rest of time. great. at least the avvie item can be reused, i guess..... not that i'll ever see one.

They need to stop doing this imo. It screws over so many people who just play the site and don't live in the US/collect stamps etc. It's nice the avvie from the goodie bag is lendable, but the rest isn't. Obviously I've come to terms with the fact it's impossible to collect everything, but damn.

If it was a real Mike Trout signature, I might consider it, but not for a printed one. The kacheek should've been cuter. I think a Blumaroo would've suited the baseball uniform better.

I’m a baseball fan so I think the figure is cool and I’m not getting the same sticker shock because everything sports is grossly marked up so I’m more surprised it’s not pushing 200usd before shipping. My biggest (literally) concern is the figure is absolutely massive. I wish it was like a fourth of the size (and price).

I would love to see blind bag sized neopet figures wearing jerseys for each of the teams.

And yes I have A LOT of issues with there being an exclusive stamp and avatar tied to it. Why not just give a stamp from a pool of rare stamps instead of making a new one if there has to be items tied to it.

If the company is so broke why do they keep dumping money into products nobody wants and they can't afford to produce? I don't think it's too expensive /for what the item is/ but the item itself is not valuable or useful to me, so I have no reason to buy it.

To answer many people's question - who wanted this collab? I am 100% the target audience for this. I love the IDEA of this collab. The execution, however...

As a massive baseball fan and an insane LA Dodgers fan, and as a totally-obnoxious-over-the-top kacheek fan, this doesn't interest me at all. There's only one real reason for this. THE THING IS GINORMOUS. Like, where would I put that?

Yeah, it's very cute and features some of my favorite players (where's Yama tho?) and I would normally completely freak out to have something like this, but wow - that's yuge!! YUGE!

As @nightshadeswiftwing said, if it were significantly smaller - like the size of a funko pop or a bobblehead - I would be interested, but not this enormous thing. I have no idea where on earth I'd put an item this large.

Did they not think to get any fan input before releasing these?

@recklesse - No, it is not. 'Loaned' and 'lent' could both be used appropriately here. I would argue that 'loaned' is a slightly clearer usage because it always means 'giving something to another person', whereas 'lent' can mean 'to impart a quality' or various other connotations. Regardless, surely we can both agree that 'lended' is incorrect usage.

Considering how much other sports stuff costs, I'm not shocked at the price, but ugh, another thing that gives a limited-quantity stamp. Don't they know better by now?

As for the figure itself, I don't care about baseball, and am not big on Kacheeks either, so even if I *had* the money I wouldn't buy, but I like how big it is!

Limited quantity consumable item behind a $100+ USD price tag moment. Can we please go back to tiered prize codes. They're kinda lame but it's better than an item being tied to a one-use code on a singular piece of merchandise and if you don't have the exact right combo of money, location, and timing. In a few years, or even a few months, these prize codes will be extinct. I'm so tired boss.
