New Petpet Species Revealed

Upper Deck has revealed the new species of petpet that they were teasing previously. Here's what the Scorf looks like! It will be available via a Rare Item Code, found inside the new Champions of Meridell expansion packs for the Neopets Battledome TCG. Tentative release is towards the end of May.

It looks a lot like a classic, early 2000s petpet and I don't dislike it, I just wish they stop putting popular item categories and avys behind a paywall, and even more if the TCG is inaccessible outside USA/Canada

I agree, the lineart makes it look like this was drawn back in the mid-2000's. Like it was a petpet that never got released... until now. Good thing I don't like it enough to drop money on the TCG.

I find it ugly. Still think it's a bad design / idea locking petpets, collectibles or avatars behind a paywall.

It's nice to see something that's "ugly" (It doesn't feel very much like that imo but I can see where they're going with it!) for once, I sorta miss when NP was just...kinda weird.

I was looking forward to this based on the preview, but sad to see it's only available from spending real money. Not going to waste my money on something I'll never use. Bad move, Neo.

To me it looks like this was a failed Neopet design that got repurposed as a Petpet. It’s too detailed for a petpet design, which tend to be simplified due to how small they are. I also like the left image but don’t particularly care for the right image, so it will be interesting to see what the petpet actually looks like as an item.

I like the artwork in both pics, clearly two different artists, both look great with what they've been given... the design itself, eh. I won't be getting one, but I'm not a big fan of the Varwolf either and I guess the Scorf is being marketed as the companion petpet to the Varwolf. Why does the Scorf get a big red carpet rolled out for it when the other brand new petpets get quietly released? Like the Lumidrax and the batch of plot P2s?

i for one am glad it's not some cute, fluffy stereotypically "adorable" petpet. not everything needs to be designed to simply be "adorable". it's gets boring.

i think this petpet fits perfectly in meridell. it's scrunkly, and looks like it'd steal and eat chicken(draik?) eggs from farmers and i welcome it! would love more interesting petpet designs like this!

the fourth foot is there in the first image. only the ankle is visible behind the scorfs left (our right) front legs elbow.

Missing toes/feet means either AI or a professionally employed artist who isn't detail-oriented enough to care about quad peds in a quadroped. I sound like my old college teacher but, sure, it looks pretty but basic anatomy is basic anatomy, if you're putting forth a direct image of a creature and not a Picasso-esque
interpretation. It's not just "tucked away for the sake of being dainty" they're just not included.

I like it, it has a very nostalgic feel. What I DON'T like is it being locked behind a paywall (and not even a guarantee either, right? it'll be in a prize pool?)
