New Petpet Coming Soon

Looks like a new species of petpet will be coming next month, with the release of the Champions of Meridell TCG set from Upper Deck. The new set is expected to release by the end of May, though the exact date is still tentative.

The new petpet will be available as a possible Rare Item Code prize with the set.

im not sure about y'all but this feels far too big to be a petpet. like. petpets are usually very small, stubby, almost chibi like creatures, but this feels more neopet-esque.

And how is this not pay to win? A new petpet released in tandem with the cards? Cool, a fun tie-in. A new petpet *exclusively* from real-life-money cards that are 1) expensive, and 2) not available to everyone? (and 3) only a *chance* to get the p2, which makes it even rarer) Very much not cool. I know it's not the first time they've done this sort of thing (exclusive avatars, premium-only album items, etc) but it still feels scummy each time.

(sorry, I'm just frustrated)

I'll be so mad if this ends up like krawks as the only "np" way to get varwolves. It wouldn't surprise me with how TNT's been lately, completely neglecting np stuff that isn't tied to merch and only caring about NC and premium stuff, but I'm really hoping it's not the case.

The silhouette definitely does bear a striking resemblance to the varwolf, when I glanced at the image before reading the text of this announcement at first I thought it was going to be a mutant varwolf.

Ugh, the fact that they're making it exclusive to merch infuriates me. I can't get Neopets' merch because of the outrageous shipping costs, so once again, I'm out of options, unless I'm miraculously rich.

Oh lovely, a new petpet you can only get by spending real money. Just want I wanted.

And it looks like it's gonna be really cool looking too! But I am NOT spending money on TCG junk I don't want, and I also don't want to pay an exorbitant NP prices from the people who can afford/want to spend the money on the TGC. (Assuming they don't go and make it no trade!)

The avatars I can't get are bad enough!!

I'm excited for it, the petpet looks cool, but i really really wish they would give an official release dates for the cards. I've seen so many different dates listed on various sites for pre-order.

They're just doing NFT without saying it's NFT. Like real money for pixels. And I get it. I want to support the site. But not through gamba and/or exclusive to US merch. Does TNT know, that there are other continents with large markets?

Definitely wolffish looking. I agree it’s probably Darigan with the spikes.

Also I doubt this will be the only way to get Varwolves with NP, although I wouldn’t put making an exclusive real money exclusive Varwolf MP off the table.
